The Three Little Pigs Of Internet Marketing...
He knew he was going to show his friends a thing or two...
Or so the first little pig of Internet marketing thought.
The straw salesperson was so good as well...
Promising him the piggy home of his dreams, best of all it was easy no skills required, just a small investment in the plans and off you go, your dream home within days of ordering.
Our first little piggy was a little skeptical that straw could do all this, but he hoped for the best and all those pictures of other happy piggies standing proudly outside their new straw based dream homes couldn't be fake...
Our hopeful piggy set out, and sure enough there was hardy any work required, the 'done for you' website looked nice...
He was sure it would convert when people saw it...
...but nobody came.
What was missing?
He went to the user forum to ask what was wrong...
posted his question and waited...
and waited.
By now hope was declining.
He re-reads the instruction pdf; yes of course, he needs to 'drive visitors' to his site.
The pdf suggests telling people on Facebook about his new site, "this will start a flow of viral unstoppable traffic"...
Mmmm...
the Facebook experience wasn't all that.
The usually super friendly Facebook crowd seemed to not like his website...
someone even called him a spammer!
What's a piggy to do?.
Entrepreneurial piggy number 2 wasn't going to make the same mistakes.
2 did his homework, read that to make money online it was as easy to sell high commission products as low, all he needed was to find a real business with a 'proven funnel' of high converting offers...
and crucially a mentor to show him the way.
What could go wrong?
This required our intrepid piggy to go 'all in' (buy all the products in order to be able to sell them and make commissions)...
why not it makes sense to use the products you promote...
right?
All set up piggy number 2 looks to his mentor...
"This business is a numbers game... recruit many to find the few"
"Each member pays you an average of $660, therefore you have to make sure it costs you less to find members in order to profit"
Sound business principals.
2 starts making sales...
but all is not well?
This recruit many to find the few is brutal...
maybe even morally questionable?
On closer inspection the products are not that good, they're over priced (compared to market equivalents), the sales funnel is a conversion machine though, tested and tweaked to perfection...
but... the hype?
Is it morally acceptable to present people with an over hyped sales process, that leaves out the true cost and real metrics for success?
2 drops out dejected...
if only there were optimized sales funnels promoting 'good' products?
What of the wolf?
Surely Google must play the part of the wolf, with their search engine monopoly, and high handed approach to customer service (their customers are never right!), but alas in the world of online marketing there are almost as many wolves as piggies...
Wolves in the form of outright scammers, big companies with too much power, misleading information...
And ALL of these can easily blow your house down...
but possible worse than these are the wolves that wander the corridors of our own minds, in the form of limiting beliefs...
Heavy (just saying).
So on a lighter note what of Piggy 3?

James is a good teacher with a time tested strategy... His genius is in his approach. He doesn't promote other marketers stuff (and they don't promote his), and he doesn't do product launches... AMAZING!
He does continue to update his coarse and responds and coaches people who buy his training via email... this is so rare.

Who would benefit from Evergreen wealth Formula?
James teaches you everything you need to build a profitable online business.
EWF is about using free traffic to build an email list from which you can build a trusting relationship before marketing whatever it is you want to promote (affiliate offers, physical products, your own services).
This strategy works for every business, or every business really should use this strategy.
This training would work for anyone wanting to build a profitable business online because being able to build an email list is a fundamental skill set for success.
Who's Evergreen wealth Formula NOT for is the easier question... Anyone who's business model doesn't include list building the answer.
James training, examples and 'done for you' elements are for the make money online space. So if you are in another niche you'll have to adapt it. A none MMO example would have been nice.

James then entered the conversation to explain why there isn't the normal hoopla surrounding the training.
James didn't promote EWF on the Warrior Forum or too Warriors directly.
James also doesn't promote any other marketers training so doesn't do the promote me and I'll promote you dance that's rife in the industry... TRULY UNIQUE!
It's also his approach to keep updating his only training program rather than follow the endless launch approach.
And he ALWAYS personally replies to emails helping people to implement his training.

There are many and varied paths to success.
This is evident when you take a look at success stories from the Wealthy Affiliate Community.
This page is going to showcase some of these.
I hope they both inspire, and illustrate, how with a little personal dedication and the right advice anyone can change their life.

One of the hardest parts about creating website content is you've no idea when and if it will ever pay...
This aspect of online marketing is what stops most people from breaking through.

Now $51.00 doesn't sound like a lot but It is, and I am going to tell you why. This commission came from a pet product company that I promote on my cat website. What makes this so cool is that I have actually put that website on the back burner for about 2 or 3 months!

First off we have Eddy Salomon who is a longtime member of WA and who demonstrates four ways of earning money from his Wealthy Affiliate training.
Eddy’s first site helps and advises people about making money online.
He helps folks avoid the scams and promotes products and services that he feels provide value. The site is monetised through Google Adsense, CPA lead generation, and Affiliate Marketing promoting WA amongst others.

Wendy Jane’s Success Story
Wendy Jane (right in the picture) joined WA after graduating college and finding that the doors to secure employment didn’t just open (tough times for grads currently).
So a little research later and a few false starts Wendy found WA…
Now no looking back for Wendy.
However Wendy has only been doing this since Jan 2013 and achieved 1600% growth in profits her first year. This doesn’t completely do Wendy’s achievement justice as health problems slowed her down significantly.

Great Information and a natural helpful style.
Site 2 is Wendy’s story of turning the post college blues into success. This site promotes Wealthy Affiliate free membership.

I joined WA in late January, stepped outside my comfort zone and started my own online business. I like James story because it illustrates that for many people it’s not all about the money.
Yes, James is making money and growing his income but by his own admission he’s put more time into helping others than himself.
Time that could be spent building his business.
Site 1 is a really attractive family games review site which is monetized through Google Adsense, and Game retail affiliate links (including Amazon affiliate links).
Site 2 is not dissimilar to this site, as James blogs about his journey through the land of online entrepreneurship. This site is also monetised with WA membership program, other services that James uses (email auto-responder service), and also Google Adsense.

When I found WA I had that immediate gut feeling that I had found what I was looking for. I was bouncing off the walls with excitement as I spent my first week going through the training on the free trial. Ryan McCraken
Ryan is a fantastic example of somebody who’s simply done the training (twice as he explains later!), and then taken massive action.
An ordinary guy who started his first Wealthy Affiliate website part-time.
He went through doubts, and concerns in the first months, and asked Kyle…

A real niche within a niche.
Within the site Ryan reviews products and helps visitors by answering their questions.
The site is monitized through Amazon Associate links.

I had zero knowledge of the internet when I started at WA. I didn’t know what a search engine, serp, keyword, SEO, SMO, or any other term associated with IM meant. A member for just over 4 years Nathaniell is another inspiring story.
Like most of us Nate came to WA looking for honest advice that would set him on the right path to success. He found it and could give up his job after just two years. Nathaniell say’s it better though…
The most interesting bit of information that you should get from this post today is that both The Online Entrepreneur Certification and Bootcamp are equally good.From 2010 to 2013 I did the regular courses at WA and was not an affiliate of WA. I was able to build a full time income from this course alone. In 2013 I joined Bootcamp and started promoting WA to the great folks out there looking for a legitimate way to earn income online.The earning potential of being a WA affiliate was equally good, so choose the course that fits you best, because you can succeed with either one.
I think because so many of the successful WA members promote WA as affiliates (why wouldn’t they?) sometimes the rest of us think that’s the best way to make money.
It’s encouraging to see that Nate made his job quitting money through simply following the Online Entrepreneur training and building niche affiliate sites.

What Nate has created is a very lovely blog that tells his story with a few core pages of content that are very prominently promoted using compelling text images (see right for example).
These pages all contain really helpful information without the need to ‘push’ WA.
The 667 (wow that’s a lot of work) posts are all really helpful fair reviews of products and services that his target audience are interested in.
This is what is bringing Nate over 1000 visitors per day.
The review strategy is a proven and reliable method for making money online and Nate’s site is the perfect example.
This is exactly the method that Kyle teaches in the WA Bootcamp training.
Personally I’ve copied Nate’s compelling sidebar links, and am trying to trim my core content down to be more helpful for visitors.
Initial results also look very good so… big thanks from me Nathaniell.

October 2016 – Back In The Saddle
Results Post October 2016
My overarching goal is to create a semi passive income to fund my retirement, via building a list of people interested in earning supplementary income from the Internet and helping them do it.
This means finding and sharing the best strategies, tactics, tools and services to enable the goal.
Some of the above offer affiliate opportunity, some don't.
Just about every success guide you may read states that the more people you can help the better you should do (though this is not about charity).
So I'm trying to focus on making my content and marketing more helpful whilst playing to my strengths.
As part of my overarching goal this site has the financial target of $1000 per month profit from the promotion of Wealthy Affiliate.
Though the site does earn from other promotions the challenge is only about WA.
Wealthy Affiliate is the training program I used, and feel offers the safest environment for beginners to learn how to build a profitable website.
Hence it's one of my best of breed recommendations.
As it's been such a long time since my last results post lets use this one to catch up on the basics...
Earnings from WA...
Less an average between $100 - 133 per month for using Bing Pay Per Click (PPC).
I promote WA using Bing PPC and search engine optimization.
Though my focus is on PPC.
These PPC campaigns have evolved over time, and the tracking is no where near exact. I know what I've spent and what I've made, I can see where most of the conversions come from but it's far from water tight.
However it makes a nice small monthly profit, for next to zero work, so all's well as far as I'm concerned.
My other major objective is to build a list of 5000 people interested in building a supplementary income via their own website.
With a current 294 contacts my 5000 target is looking a nice stretch.

Below shows the various optin options I've tried.
Thanks to the guys from Thrive Leads I've managed to improve my optin performance from my first attempt at 0.62% optin rate to the current 5.12%.
If I Could Do Anything Different?
I've no doubt if I had simply concentrated on writing product and service reviews for products in the make money space I would have smashed my income targets by now.
A great example is Nathaniell from onemorecupofcoffee.com . Nathaniell is a fellow WAer and copying his work ethic will hold you in very good stead.
In the past two years Nathaniell has written over 300 posts compared to my 40 ish!
Nuff said.
Unfortunately I don't personally enjoy cranking out endless content, so I'm going to stubbornly try and improve my less is more approach to content... (this may be a bad idea?).
Going Forward
I'm going to concentrate on shorter term task based goals, the success of which is 100% in my hands.
These are steps required in order to take me closer to my main long-term objectives.
These currently look like...
(Set 11th Oct 2016)
1. List Building. Build my list to 5000 subscribers (293 11th Oct 16)
2. Help my subscribers more (not sure how to measure this but I wanted it listed)
3. Test and implement a new list building idea (will document as progress)
4. Write product reviews for 3 additional products that I like and use.

This case study is going to show you a real wealthy affiliate website example that you can copy...
STEP 1 : Niche / Keyword Research Using The Free WA Keyword Tool

- Type in your broad niche keyword idea and set results by most searches to see where the traffics flowing

Once your within Wealthy Affiliate the keyword tool can be found in the left navigation bar (pictured below)

- Site structure... the main site keyword is going to be "best / wireless headphones for TV" with individual product specific 'review' posts linked to from the home page.
- Frank is using QSR for deciding upon keyword viability. QSR means quoted search results, which are the number of pages in the search results that contain the exact keyword in the page title (more explanation below).
- Frank then looks for products to promote. Amazon being the obvious affiliate partner but could also have considered other electronics suppliers with affiliate programs (most have an affiliate program).
Google Quoted Search Results (QSR)
Using QSR to quickly assess the viability of a keyword is the only check some very successful marketers use (others prefer to dig deeper).
Since Frank made the video Google have changed how their search results are reported, hiding the true QSR.
You many also be wondering... What's the big deal about QSR?
Putting the target keyword in the title of a page is the most powerful of search engine ranking perimeters (logical).
So the theory is; if you can find keywords that have very few pages with the exact ("quoted") keyword in the title and lots of people searching for them... you have a great opportunity to create content that will get visitors from search engines, and with them the opportunity to earn money (yeah!).
This is the cornerstone of search engine optimized (SEO) affiliate marketing.
So how's it changed...
In the video Frank used the WA keyword tool and hit the 'competition' button to bring up a pop up window showing Googles actual results window for the keyword...
This shows there are only 177 competing web pages with the keyword in the title.
So NOW if you went and typed into Google "wireless headphones for TV" you's get something like this...
Which suggests there are over 136,000 competing pages with our keyword in the title... that's way to much comp!
But, the reality is different...
If you could be bothered to scroll to the end page of Googles results for this keyword you'd see...
Oh! actually only 147 competing pages... that's way more like it!
To find this out I had to manually scroll to the final page (page 16) of Googles results.
So how does the free WA keyword tool report QSR today?...
Don't worry that this is different from my manual search, the data you get back depends on which geographical data-center you'll be connected to (I'm in the UK).
The point being the WA keyword tool saves you an awful lot of time.
Understanding keywords is a skill that can make you a LOT of money!

- Check out the website for yourself note the navigation, categories, use of keywords in the titles, content and images... note how inviting it is to click around the site and also to AMAZON (the clicks that EARN)
- When you understand keywords you can hire out some of the time consuming content creation...

STEP 4: Earn Money... I'm dying to know...
This is a great case study for the Wealthy Affiliate website building system...
But...
Does it make money?
How long did it take to put together?
The domain for this niche website was purchased on 02 March 2014 and the content for the website was completed by 04 March 2014.
The first sale came in 8 days...
NOTE: Franks commission of $5.70 is under Advertising Fees because that's how Amazon classify affiliate payments.
But the sales don't stop there...
That's another 20 sales within 4 months of the site going live, with NO additional work done to the site... Frank would never normally leave a site like this...
But I mean, if this ugly little website with so few pages can generate sales in a few short months, then imagine how many sales you could make with 50 or even 100 pages of content. The more pages you create, potentially the more income you make.
I could easily expand this website if I wanted, but for now I just using it as a template for people to have a guide.
So to keep things simple, I’m just gonna to leave it.
From here, all you have to do is rinse and repeat the niche site creation until you generate the income you want. Or you could just stay with the one website and expand on it.
Frank didn't do any backlink building or use any forms of promotion to get traffic to the site... simply good keyword research combined with good quality unique content.
How well could this site do if Frank had continued to add content and follow the basic promotion guides provided by WA????
